Yacht photography and film along the Italian coast
Italy covers several very different cruising areas: the Ligurian Riviera around Portofino, the Tuscan coast and islands, the Costa Smeralda in Sardinia, the Amalfi Coast and Capri, and Sicily with the Aeolian Islands. It is also home to some of the most important superyacht building yards. We travel from our Cannes base for every Italian project, with photography, film, drone and social media in one crew.
We handle logistics, permits and local fixers, and work to a single fixed quote sent within 24 hours. Whether the brief is a brokerage gallery in Portofino, a charter film on the Amalfi Coast or a launch shoot at a yard, the deliverables arrive formatted for listing and charter platforms.

Portofino, the Ligurian coast and the yards
Portofino is one of the most recognisable backdrops in yachting: a small harbour, painted houses and a green headland. Space is limited in high season, so we plan exterior shots from the water and the air, and use the anchorages along the Tigullio coast for running shots with the headland in frame.
Liguria and northern Tuscany are also where much of the Italian superyacht industry is based, with yard clusters around La Spezia and Viareggio. For shipyards and project managers we cover launches, sea trials, handovers and refit progress, with press-ready images and film for the yard, the designer and the owner.

Yacht film on the Amalfi Coast and around Capri
The Amalfi Coast is built for yacht film. Villages climb straight up the cliffs, and a yacht at anchor off Positano or Amalfi gives a frame that needs very little explanation. Capri adds the Faraglioni rocks and deep blue water, and is a natural stop on the same day when the sea allows.
The cliffs face south, so the light changes quickly. We usually shoot exteriors early in the morning and late in the afternoon, keep the middle of the day for interiors and deck scenes, and plan drone flights around local aviation rules and restricted zones. Anchorages are busy in July and August, so timing matters as much as position.

Sardinia's Costa Smeralda and the islands of the south
Porto Cervo is the centre of the Costa Smeralda and one of the busiest superyacht destinations in the Mediterranean in summer. The coastline around it, with granite rocks and bright turquoise bays, is ideal for aerial work and lifestyle scenes. The La Maddalena archipelago nearby is a national park, so we check navigation and anchoring rules for each location before the shoot.
Northern Sardinia is exposed to the mistral, which can blow hard for several days. We keep the plan flexible and move between sheltered bays when needed.
Further south, Sicily and the Aeolian Islands offer volcanic landscapes, dark sand and a quieter feel. They suit charter marketing that wants to show a different side of Italy, and can be combined with Amalfi or Capri in one quote.
FAQ.
What is the best month for yacht photography in Italy?
May, June and September give reliable weather, clear water and fewer yachts in the popular anchorages. July and August have the most activity, but Portofino, Capri and Porto Cervo are crowded, so shots need more planning.
Can you shoot in Portofino and on the Amalfi Coast in the same trip?
Yes. We quote the whole itinerary as one project, with a fixed price within 24 hours, and plan travel between locations around the yacht's schedule.
Do you work with Italian shipyards?
Yes. We cover launches, sea trials, handovers and refit progress for yards and project managers, with images and film suitable for press, the yard's own channels and the owner.
Can you use a drone in Sardinia or on the Amalfi Coast?
Drone work is planned around Italian aviation rules and any restricted zones or protected areas at each location. We confirm what is possible before the shoot so the schedule does not depend on it.
