Yacht photography in the Bahamas and the Exumas

The Bahamas offer some of the most photogenic water anywhere: shallow sand banks, sandbars that appear at low tide and a range of blues that changes with every metre of depth. That makes the islands a strong setting for charter marketing, and many yachts spend the winter here. We fly in for every Bahamas project with photography, film, drone and social media covered by one crew.

The shallow water that makes the images also shapes the plan. Larger yachts cannot reach every anchorage, so we work with the captain on positions, use tenders for the shallows and time aerials with the tide and the light. We handle logistics, permits and local fixers, and send a fixed quote within 24 hours.

The Exumas: turquoise shallows from the air

The Exuma Cays are the heart of yacht charter in the Bahamas: a long chain of small islands with white sand, reefs and water that shifts from pale turquoise to deep blue. From the air, a yacht at anchor off the cays gives an image that works for brochures, listing platforms and social media alike.

Well-known stops such as Staniel Cay and the swimming pigs at Big Major Cay are natural lifestyle scenes for charter marketing. The Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park is a protected area with its own rules, which we check with the captain before planning any shots inside it.

Drone work is central to most shoots here, and every flight is planned around Bahamian aviation rules and restricted zones.

Nassau: marinas, turnarounds and interior shoots

Nassau and Paradise Island are the main arrival point for guests and crew, with superyacht marinas and good flight connections. Yachts often spend a few days here between charters, which gives time for full interior shoots, crew portraits and detail work before heading out to the islands.

Starting in Nassau also simplifies logistics. We can shoot interiors alongside, then join the yacht for the run toward the Exumas or Eleuthera and capture exteriors and lifestyle scenes on the way.

Eleuthera, Harbour Island and working with the tide

Eleuthera is long and narrow, with calm water on one side and Atlantic beaches on the other. Harbour Island, just off its northern coast, is known for its pink sand beaches and colourful clapboard houses, which give a different, softer palette for lifestyle imagery.

In the Bahamas, the light and the tide matter as much as the location. Sandbars and shallows look their best around low tide with the sun high enough to light the water, while hull profiles and deck scenes are best shot early or late in the day. Winter cold fronts can bring a few days of stronger wind, so we build flexible days into the schedule.

Questions we get asked

FAQ.

When is the best time for a yacht shoot in the Bahamas?

November to April is the main season, with most yachts in the islands and generally settled weather. Hurricane season runs June to November, so we avoid planning shoots in that period.

Can you photograph a large yacht in the shallow Exumas?

Yes. We agree anchorages with the captain based on the yacht's draft, then use tenders and drone work to bring the shallows and sandbars into the imagery.

Do you fly drones in the Bahamas?

Drone work is a big part of Bahamas shoots. Every flight is planned around local aviation rules, restricted zones and protected areas, and we confirm what is possible before the shoot.

Can one quote cover Nassau, the Exumas and Harbour Island?

Yes. Send us the itinerary and we return one fixed quote within 24 hours for the whole trip, including travel, logistics and local fixers.
